A SPECIAL tribute concert celebrated the 100th birthday of a popular Limerick lady and musician.
Peig Ryan is known by musicians far and wide after being instrumental in founding the Murroe branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann in 1972, which now bears her name.
Many musicians trace their talent to Peig’s nurturing and guidance. Peig’s musical ability is reflected in her mastery of the flute, whistle and concertina and in her ability to sing and write music, songs and poetry.
A tribute concert was held recently to celebrate Peig's milestone birthday.
