INVESTIGATIONS are continuing after drugs worth around €60,000 were seized at Shannon Airport at the weekend.
During routine passenger profiling at the airport and as a result of positive reactions from Revenue’s sniffer dog, Ollie, officers from Revenue’s Customs Service service questioned two men, who they suspected had ingested drugs.
The men, who are both Irish, were subsequently arrested by gardai and taken to University Hospital Limerick where the drugs were ‘passed’ under medical supervision.
According to a Revenue spokesperson, the drugs were concealed in around 100 pellets, which had been ingested by the men.
Both men had disembarked from a flight from Spain when they were detected.
