Gardai investigating the murder of Paddy Redmond at an apartment in Limerick city last month have arrested a woman on suspicion of his murder.

Gardai investigating the murder of Paddy Redmond at an apartment in Limerick city last month have arrested a woman on suspicion of his murder.

The woman, whose aged in her 40s, was arrested this evening and is being questioned at Henry Street garda station about the fatal stabbing.

Mr Redmond (65) died after he was stabbed in the back during a row at the Mount Kenneth Apartments in the early hours of November 10, last.

The separated father of three grown-up daughters was originally from Dublin but had been living in Limerick for a number of years. He was found with stab wounds on the floor of an apartment just down the hall from where he lived.

He died from his injuries at University Hospital, Limerick a number of hours later.

The woman arrested this evening is being questioned under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. She can be detained for a maximum of 24 hours without charge.
