Investigations are continuing to establish the cause of a fire which gutted a thatched cottage on the outskirts of Limerick city.
The fire, at Common’s Road, Ballysimon broke out shortly after 3pm yesterday.
A number of units of the Limerick city fire and rescue service attended the scene and remained there for several hours afterwards as a precaution.
It is understood the cottage is derelict and there are no reports of any injuries.
The scene of the blaze was sealed off last evening to facilitate a forensic examination.
Gardai at Roxboro Road are investigating.
