GARDAI have discovered a substantial amount of firearms and ammunition at a cottage in County Limerick.
Around 30 grenades, 400 rounds of ammunition and several guns were seized during a planned search of the cottage at Annagh, Lisnagry this afternoon.
It is understood the weapons seized during the search included two pistols and a number of automatic machine guns.
An explosive ordinance team from the defence forces at Collins Barrack’s Cork was deployed at the scene following the discovery of the grenades this morning.
Gardai believe the weapons belong to criminal elements in Limerick city. Investigations are ongoing.
