Michael D Higgins has topped the poll in the presidential election in both the Limerick city and Limerick constituencies.
The Labour candidate secured an impressive 16,395(49.28%) first preference votes in Limerick city. Sean Gallagher secured 7,643(22.24%) and Martin McGuinness secured 4,150(12.07%).
The overall turnout in Limerick city was 34,725, which represents 52.28% of the electorate.
Meanwhile, in the Limerick constituency Michael D Higgins secured 14,134(38.7%) first preference votes. Sean Gallagher netted 12,238 (33.5%) and Martin McGuinness secured 3,854(10.55%)
The turnout in the Limerick constituency was 36,876(55.58%)
