Hosts sought for Limerick training scheme

AN INITIATIVE aimed at creating employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities is beginning its second year under the supervision of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland.
The Limerick Let’s Get to Work Programme, which is supported by the Dormant Account Fund (DAF), looks to provide training and work experience to 38 participants from the local community.
Last year, the 12-week program, conducted one day per week, offered individuals with disabilities the chance to develop their skills and gain valuable knowledge, with over 30% of those who took part securing paid part-time employment.
Following the training, participants embarked on a six-week work experience placement, dedicating half a day each week to gain hands-on experience in various sectors, including cafés, restaurants, hotels, factories and in retail.
Organisers of the program are appealing to local businesses to support this initiative by offering placements to individuals with disabilities.
Employment Coaches will be available to provide full support to both the participants and the hosts throughout the placement period.
Additionally, comprehensive insurance coverage is in place to ensure a secure experience for all parties involved.
If you are interested in supporting this initiative by hosting an individual in your workplace, contact employment coaches or outreach-supported employment at the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland.
