Regional Support Unit deployed to Limerick village in ‘axe incident’

Gardai took the man into custody for his own safety
THE Regional Support Unit was deployed to the village of Doon in county Limerick on Monday night to assist in disarming a man who was armed with an axe.

An anonymous call was made to the gardai in relation to the incident, which is understood to have been a domestic dispute.

The man, who is aged in his early 30s, was arrested at the scene and is due to appear before Mallow Court this Tuesday.

He is charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

It is understood that no one was injured during the incident.
