Man arrested during County Limerick manhunt appears in court

A YOUNG man who was arrested during a garda manhunt in West Limerick earlier this week has appeared in court accused of burglary charges.

A YOUNG man who was arrested during a garda manhunt in West Limerick earlier this week has appeared in court accused of burglary charges.

Laurence Kiely, 24, of Kilbarry Cottage, Old Mallow Road, Cork was arrested near Raheenagh on Tuesday afternoon. He appeared before Limerick District Court this morning accused of committing four burglaries on Tuesday.

The burglaries are alleged to have taken place at Hilltop, Martinstown; Corelish, Pallasgreen; Park Row, Ballysheedy and at Boher Load, Ballyneety.

Judge Eamon O’Brien was told the accused is unemployed and solicitor Ted McCarthy was assigned to represent him under the free legal aid scheme.

The defendant did not apply for bail and he was remanded in custody until May 8, next.
