Pensioner arrested following firearms seizure in Limerick

A man in his 70s is being questioned by gardai following the discovery of a gun and ammunition in Limerick city.

A man in his 70s is being questioned by gardai following the discovery of a gun and ammunition in Limerick city.

The firearm and ammunition were recovered by gardai at a house in Sean Heuston Place at around 7.15 this morning.

It is understood that gardai went to the house after they were informed that there had been a dispute betweeen a number of the occupants of the house.

The man arrested is being detained at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
