INVESTIGATIONS are underway after an elderly woman died in a house fire in Limerick city tonight.
Three units of the Limerick City Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene of the fire at O’Curry Place shortly after 8pm.
The woman, who was aged in her 80s, was removed from the house by two firemen but was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her remains have been removed to the University Hospital Limerick where a postmortem examination will be carried out.
While gardai at Henry Street are investigating the circumstances of the fire, fould play is not suspected.
