If Limerick County Council’s website is to believed, Hollywood’s most famous couple - Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie – could be your new neighbours.
Among planning applications for agricultural sheds and house extensions last week, one Angelina Jolie applying for planning in Rathkeale stood out.
She is joined by a Brad Bitt, which must surely be Pitt, as you couldn’t have Angelina without Brad. He has put in an application for “Beverly Hills, Newcastle West”.
This reporter was flummoxed by the couple’s lodging of separate planning permissions – although in fairness they do have six children so they need plenty of living space.
Brad has come into some money recently as he has reportedly been paid $7 million for the new Chanel No. 5 television advert.
Perhaps one of the most famous and photographed couple in the world plan to escape the paparazzi in Limerick’s countryside?
However, thoughts of a world exclusive for your humble correspondent were, this week, dashed by director of planning and development, Gerry Sheeran.
Mr Sheeran said he was not aware of the names as he uses the council’s intranet site and not the one the public use.
Angelina and Brad have been joined by some other unusual names on the planning files - a Joe Bloggs is looking for planning on Murroe’s Main Street while, a Wurtzel Gummige wants to build at Haystack House, Peafield.
“We’ve checked this out and the Department of Environment have been asking us to work live on tests to upgrade the system. That’s why they were put up.
“It is probably not appropriate to use those names so I have asked them now to change it and use more simple terms, like test 1, test 2, just in case people don’t understand what is going on, or think we are treating this lightly,” said Mr Sheeran, who added that they have now been taken down.
“The department use us a lot to work on new things. Our planning IT has been advanced for a long time. It will make it more accessible and easier to use for the public,” he added.
While the new planning system may be easier to use for the public, I imagine they would prefer to have Brad and Angelina living in their midst.
