Limerick Fire and Rescue Service personnel were deployed after the alarm was raised
LIMERICK boxer Lee Reeves risked his own life to save a young woman who entered a river in the city.
Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention (LTSP) shared a post on their Facebook regarding the incident - and Mr Reeves' efforts - which took place at around 9pm on Sunday.
Mr Reeves, who had just come back from training in Belfast an hour before, volunteered to give LTSP assistance on their patrol. A short time later he saw a woman enter the river and went to her aid.
Limerick Fire and Rescue Service personnel were quickly at the scene. Swiftwater rescue technician firefighters assisted Mr Reeves and rescued the woman from the water on their power boat.
Emergency services remind people to immediately call 999 and alert the relevant services and never to put themselves in danger.
