The Applegreen Service Station in Lifford earlier this week
Concern has been growing in Lifford about the future of the Applegreen Service Station which has not been operating for almost a week now.
The facility, which is based on the Letterkenny Road People is a state-of-the-art fuel station and shop. It has been a major boost to the area since it was established and customers come from near and far as they are very familiar with the brand.
The fuel pumps have been tied up and the shop has not opened.
The Applegreen site has not only has it brought vital employment opportunities, but it has also bolstered enterprise in the area, raising the bar for other entrepreneurs to aspire to. A major development is planned in this same area involving business and housing projects.
Local councillor Gerry Crawford said he hoped matters there could be resolved.
"Every single job that is available in Lifford is very important. I hope for the sake of the people employed there that this can be sorted out shortly."
An Applegreen spokesman has today provided some clarity in the matter.
“For operational reasons, Applegreen had to temporarily suspend fuel deliveries to a forecourt site in Lifford. Fuel deliveries will resume later this week.”
