Hurling - County Board to meet senior management

Limerick GAA officials will begin a series of meetings this week to decide the make up of the 2016 Limerick senior hurling management. Oliver Mann, Mike O’Riordan and Donal Morrissey are to meet with TJ Ryan this week and are also expected to canvass the views of the players with Wayne McNamara and Seamus Hickey representing them. It is also understood that two members of that panel, Shane Dowling and Dan Morrissey, are to spend the rest of the summer hurling in the US.

Hurling - U-21 boss ‘We are absolutely thrilled’

That was the view of victorious U-21 hurling manager John Kiely after his side beat Tipperary in last Thursday’s Munster semi final. The last three years saw Limerick knocked out in the first round and Kiely is the fourth manager since Limerick won the 2011 Munster championship. Clare will be the opposition in this year’s final, in Ennis on Thursday, July 30.

Golf - Amateur Dunne leads the Open; Harrington is two shots back

Irish amateur golfer Paul Dunne is tied for the lead after 54 holes of the 2015 Open Championship. The Greystones native is joined at the top of the leaderboard with Jason Day and Louis Oosthuizen -12. Meanwhile, two time Open champion Padraig Harrington will start his round two shots off the lead at 10 under par.

Soccer - Benteke to undergo Liverpool medical

Belgian international striker Christian Benteke is expected to undergo a medical ahead of a move from Aston Villa to Liverpool at some stage today. Liverpool met his £32.5 million release clause on Friday and unless something comes up in his medical, Benteke will become Liverpool’s seventh signing of the summer.
