A BUSY weekend of AIL action kicks off locally on Friday night with a crucial derby clash of UL-Bohemian and Shannon in 1B at Thomond Park, 7.30pm.
UL-Bohemian are currently just one point ahead of Malone who occupy one of the two automatic relegation places in Division 1B.
Seventh-placed Shannon are three points ahead of UL-Bohs in the table and a win on Friday night would ease their relegation worries a considerable amount.
Also in the same Division on Saturday, second-placed Garryowen will look to maintain their strong promotion bid when they take on Ballymena at Eaton Park, 2.30pm.
Garryowen trail leaders Galwegians by a point with three games to go.
Young Munster will look to continue their push away from the relegation zone in Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League when facing UCD at Belfield Bowl on Saturday, 2.30pm.
Eighth-placed Young Munster sit two points ahead of second-from-bottom Old Belvedere following their bonus point victory over Dolphin at Clifford Park on Saturday. Old Belvedere occupy the relegation play-off position.
Munsters’ will travel to Dublin full of confidence after finally breaking their five-game losing run in 1A against basement side Dolphin.
Crucially for Munsters’, Saturday’s win has seen them build a 10-point gap over basement side Dolphin who occupy the automatic relegation place in 1A.
Incredibly, in a fiercely competitive division, Munsters’ sit just five points off the semi-final play-offs, despite losing nine of their 15 fixtures Division 1A to date.
In Division 2A, Thomond host Rainey Old Boys at Fitzgerald Park at 2.30pm, while in 2B, Bruff host Kanturk at Kilballyowen Park while Old Crescent host Greystones at Rosbrien and Richmond will look to build on their fine win over Ards when hosting Highfield at Richmond Park. All games 2.30pm.
