There were two games down for decision in the LDMC Premier Division on Tuesday night.
Carew Park were 3-1 winners over Aisling Annacotty while Janesboro beat Knockainey 5-0. The results mean that Carew are clear of Boro and three ahead of Pike Rovers but Boro and Pike both have a game in hand on the leaders.
The penultimate round of games takes place next Thursday, May 7, with the final round on Sunday, May 10.
Carew Park 3 Aisling Annacotty 1
Carew Park moved into top spot in the Premier League with a hard earned 3-1 win over relegation threatened Aisling Annacotty. The visitors were on top in the first half and carried a deserved lead courtesy of Evan O’Connor in at the break.
Carew improved after the restart and were back on terms within minutes from a John Connery goal. Paul Quinn put Carew in front from a penalty kick while Alex Assouiss made sure of the points late on.
Janesboro 5 Knockainey 0
As expected Janesboro proved too strong for bottom side Knockainey winning 5-0 in a game that was blown up early.
Two penalties from Shane Clarke, two beauties from Wayne O’Donovan and a fifth from Mike Hogan was enough to keep Boro’s charge for the title on course.
