MUNSTER’S new hooker - New Zealand’s Quentin MacDonald - is set to get his first taste of action on Friday at Dooradoyle.

MacDonald, who has signed a three-month contract with the province, is expected to feature for Peter Malone’s Munster A side in the Interprovincial against Connacht Eagles as he looks to regain match sharpness.

“I can’t wait - I’ve been keeping fit and keeping strong and the game on Friday will be good to test the lungs out,” said the MacDonald.

Injuries to Mike Sherry and Damien Varley have left Munster short on cover at hooker with Duncan Casey starting all of the recent RaboDirect games and Young Munster’s Ger Slattery providing cover.

Munster have no RaboDirect game this weekend but the ‘A’ game kicks off at 3pm in Dooradoyle. Admission is free.
