LIMERICK senior football champions Dromcollohger-Broadford are out of the Munster club championship after a 2-7 to 0-11 defeat to Ballinacourty in Dungarvan this Sunday.

The west Limerick side were hit for two goals in the final five minutes of the second half and ultimately this proved the difference in the provincial quarter-final.

Drom-Broadford trailed 2-3 to 0-5 at half time and never managed to haul back the lead in the second half.

Mike Fahy’s men did get it back to 2-5 to 0-10 but couldn’t draw level or find a winning score.

They had three points from play from Derry McCarthy in the first half as it was 0-3 each with 24-minutes played.

Then came the Jason O’Brien goal.

And, two minutes before the break, Mark Ferncombe punched their second goal to the net.

Drom-Broadford made two changes at half time but Ballinacourty went 2-4 to 0-5 clear after the resumption.

Three successive points from Micheal Reidy, McCarthy and Killian Phair reduced the lead to 0-8 to 2-4 with 20-minutes to play.

Further scores from Phair and Ray Lynch left it 2-5 to 0-10 with five minutes to play.

But it was not to be with Gary Hurney and Michael O’Halloran kicking the winning scores for Ballinacourty on the counter attack as Drom-Broadford went in search of scores.

Phair kicked a late free but there was no dramatic winning goal.
