LIMERICK’S hurling promotion push remains on track after their 1-14 to 2-8 win over Wexford this Sunday in the Gaelic Grounds.
Limerick now have Offaly and Laois left to play in Division 1B as they bid to beat Cork in the promotion race.
Limerick started the first half well on top but all the time Wexford were hitting wides to spoil their share of possession.
Indeed by half time they had 10-wides, compared to four for the home side.
The key score of the opening half came in the ninth minute when Graeme Mulcahy found the net after a fine move by Kevin Downes and Paul Browne.
Mulcahy was to be the only scorer from play along with Conor Allis.
Mulcahy hit 1-2 in the opening half, while Allis hit 0-4.
Limerick were 1-4 to 0-1 clear after 20-minutes.
But then Liam Dunne’s Wexford found the range and had it back to 1-5 to 0-5 until Mulcahy’s late point.
Limerick had to wait 30-minutes for a score from play in the second half - Kevin Downes was the scorer.
But Allis frees left Limerick ahead.
That was until the 57th minute when Wexford drew level at 1-8 each.
But the Limerick response was impressive with the switch of Downes to wing forward key.
The Downes point from play had Limerick 1-14 to 2-8 clear until Rory Jacob goaled in the final minute.
