WINGER Andrew Conway has been named in the Munster ‘A’ side to face Nottingham in the British and Irish Cup at Meadow Lane this Friday night (8pm).
Conway’s inclusion ends the possibility of the former Leinster player being included in Rob Penney’s senior squad for Saturday’s crucial Heineken Cup clash with Gloucester at Thomond Park.
Conway had impressed when scoring a try in Munster A’s bonus point win over Stirling County in Bandon last weekend and was in contention to make the senior squad this weekend, following the injury to Simon Zebo.
With Duncan Williams selected to start at scrum-half for the ‘A’ side, it seems certain that Cathal Sheridan will be replacement scrum-half for the weekend Heineken Cup match against Gloucester.
In all, Munster ‘A’ head coach Peter Malone has made four changes to the starting XV that defeated Stirling County last weekend.
There are new half-backs this week with Williams partnering out-half Johnny Holland. Williams found himself on the wing as a replacement against Edinburgh last Saturday.
The front row changes include Duncan Casey coming straight in to the squad and John Ryan starting ahead of Paddy Ryan this week. Billy Holland will captain the side.
