LIMERICK rower Tiarnán O'Donnell and partner Sadhbh Ní Laoghaire won a bronze medal in the PR3 Mixed Double Sculls at the 2025 World Rowing Cup II Regatta in Switzerland on Saturday.

The PR3 Mixed Double Scull crew claimed a terrific bronze medal in their 'A' final at Rotsee in Lucerne.

The bronze medal success continues a terrific spell for Boher native Tiarnán O'Donnell following his impressive gold medal performance in the PR2 Men’s Single Sculls at the World Rowing Cup I in Varese.

O'Donnell and Ní Laoghaire raced in the PR3 category due to a lack of entries in their own PR2 classification. Their participation will provide valuable racing experience and support their classification ahead of the World Championships.
Twenty seven-year-old O'Donnell is a relative newcomer to rowing, having already shown immense potential, transitioning from being one of Ireland’s top wheelchair basketball players to rowing.
O'Donnell competed at the 2024 Paris Paralympics in the PR2 Mixed Double Sculls alongside Katie O’Brien. The double marked
Ireland’s return to Paralympic rowing since London 2012.
O'Donnell, of Lee Rowing Club, also won silver at the 2024 World Rowing Cup II and III in the PR2 single sculls. In 2025, Tiarnán won a gold medal at the
World Cup I in Varese. This marked Tiarnán’s first gold medal on the international circuit, just one year after making his
international debut.
Eighteen-year-old Sadhbh Ní Laoighre, of Bantry Rowing Club, started her para rowing journey in 2024. In that same year, she took home two golds from the 2024 Home International Regatta in both the 2000 metre race and 500 metre sprint race. She was nominated in the rowability category at the 2024 Rowing Ireland awards.
