STRUGGLING Treaty United seek a much-needed victory in the SSE Airtricity League First Division when travelling to St Colman's Park to face Cobh Ramblers in a crunch Munster derby this Friday night, 7.45pm kick-off.
A poor run of results has seen Treaty drop to eighth-place in the First Division table. Injury-hit Treaty are now 12 games without a win following their disappointing 2-1 defeat to Longford Town at Bishopsgate on Monday night in their rearranged fixture.
Treaty took the lead in the 42nd minute on Monday night as Mark Byrne got on the end of a low Robbie Lynch cross with a diving header to flick the ball to the net, sending the visitors in 1-0 ahead at the interval.
That lead, however, didn’t last long as Longford equalised just 12 minutes after the restart. Ross Fay’s turn and pivot snapshot from the edge of the box beat Chambers to the bottom corner.
Longford scored the winner in the 75th minute as Dean O’Shea rose highest to meet the in-swinging corner to thunder his header beyond Chambers.
Treaty now sit eight points off the promotion play-off places ahead of two away derby fixtures with Cobh and Cork City. Friday's opponents Cobh are one spot and three points above Treaty United in the First Division table.
