LIMERICK'S Róisín Ní Ríain returned home to Ireland from the Para Swimming European Championships in Portugal over the weekend with a huge haul of medals.

The team of six swimmers collected a staggering 11 medals over the course of the week including three golds between Roisin Ni Riain and Nicole Turner.

The Drombanna native had by far the busiest schedule of the week, with 6 races to contest, five of those with heat stages. She rose to the occasion and came home to Ireland with five medals: two gold, two silver and two bronze.

She competed in the S13 category for visually impaired athletes in the butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke and freestyle.

Ní Riain won two golds, in the 100m backstroke and 100m breaststroke, as well as silver and bronze in the 100m butterfly and 400m freestyle.

After this European Championship Róisín, who is a first year Sports Science student at the University of Limerick, will set her sights on the 2024 Paralympics in Paris this August.
