MUNSTER demolished hapless Sale Sharks 65-10 in their final European Champions Cup Pool 1 fixture before an official attendance of 17,685 at Thomond Park this Sunday.
Anthony Foley’s side ran in eight second half tries as a much-changed Sale side were blitzed in the closing 40 minutes. Munster’s, whose hopes of making the quarter-finals were ended by their defeat to Saracens eight days earlier led 13-10 at half-time with Simon Zebo grabbing the home side’s opening try.
A fine try from Keith Earls, on his first start of the season at the start of the second half, put daylight between the sides. And Munster put Sale to the sword over the remainder of the game with tries from Pat Howard, Man of the Match Zebo again, Andrew Conway, two, Tommy O’Donnell, Duncan Williams and a penalty try.
