LIMERICK FC will look to build on their first SSE Airtricity League Premier Division win of the season when they host basement side Athlone Town at Thomond Park on Good Friday, 7.45pm.

A Rory Gaffney goal helped the Blues edge Bohemians 1-0 at Dalymount Park on Friday night. And Stuart Taylor’s charges are now targeting their first home win of the season at the third attempt.

Taylor said: “The lads need to be as professional as they were last week, on top of their game like they were last week. We are desperate to get the three points against Bohs and Athlone on Friday night will be no different.

“They will be aggressive, hard-working and in your face. The longer their wait for a win goes on, the harder they will work. A point will come when they do get their first victory. We just have to make sure that it is not on Friday night.

“We need to be as professional in our job as we have been over the past number of weeks. We need to build on our win over Bohs.

“I watched Athlone the week before against Bohemians and they scored in that game too. They have a goal in them. There is no doubt about that. We have to make sure defensively that we are switched on and solid. For the supporters, we want to get a home win. We are hoping to get in on Friday night.”

Following the Good Friday clash with the Midlanders, Limerick FC make the trip to the Brandywell to face Derry City on Easter Monday, 3pm.
