Limerick man gets Mayo hurling job

LIMERICK’S 2011 Munster U-21 winning manager Leo O’Connor has been appointed as coach to the Mayo senior hurlers.

LIMERICK’S 2011 Munster U-21 winning manager Leo O’Connor has been appointed as coach to the Mayo senior hurlers.

O’Connor will join the back room team of manager Christy Phillips - who is a Limerick native, living in Claremorris.

Phillips is facing into his second season as team manager after previously serving as selector under Murt Connolly.

The Limerick native was also manager of the Mayo U-21 team this season.

Leo O’Connor’s term as Limerick U-21 manager ended after the successful season of 2011.

He has since returned to work with Limerick’s underage Development squads and also coached the Kilmoyley club side in Kerry this season.

The Claughaun man also had a brief spell in charge of his native club last season.
