Under starter's orders for Limerick's Cheltenham Preview Nights

The 2024 Cheltenham National Hunt racing festival takes place between March 12 and March 15

SEVERAL popular Cheltenham Preview Nights are scheduled to take place in Limerick between now and the start of the eagerly-anticipated Festival Meeting next month.

First-up is a fund-raiser for Cliona’s Foundation at Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel on Tuesday, February 27, 8pm.

With Brian Arnold as MC, guests will include Jane Mangan, Ted Walsh, Darragh O’Keefe, Cathal Byrnes and Johnny Dineen, along with Charles Byrnes, Davy Mann, TJ Ryan and Mark Landers.

Tickets are priced at €25, which includes a drink and €10 matched bet. Tickets can be secured at 061-605100 or events@woodlands-hotel.ie.

On Sunday March 3, Josh Sheahan will host a Preview at Top of the Town, Askeaton (6.30pm). A stellar guest list here includes Shark Hanlon, John McConnell, Richie Condon, Eoin McCarthy, Harry Swan, Paddy Merrigan and lead local bookmaker Brian Collins.

Tickets are pitched at €20, which covers admission, a drink, finger food and free €10 Festival bet. There will be a charity donation made afterwards.

Only a few days out from the Festival, Al Fitzpatrick will have the very latest with his Preview at Bill Chawke’s Bar, Adare on Thursday, March 7 (7.30pm).

The panel will include Davy Mann, Kevin Power, Eric McNamara and Johnny Looby, with Padraig Ryan as host. Proceeds to Adare Juvenile GAA Club. Further details from 087-3110459.

The Cheltenham Festival takes place from March 12-15.
