Limerick players honoured at Women's Premier Division Awards

TWO Limerick players were among those honoured at the 2023 SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division Awards at Clontarf Castle in Dublin on Thursday.

Nineteen-year-old Jenna Slattery was named on the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division Team of the Year after enjoying a hugely impressive season with Galway United.

Another Limerick player, Jodie Griffin, who also plays with Galway United, was presented with the TG4 Goal of the Year award on the evening.

Griffin, Slattery and a third Limerick player Nicole McNamara were members of the Galway United player which won the All-Island Cup with Galway Utd in July.

Jenna Slattery made the switch to Galway United in 2023 having spent a season with Galway WFC, scoring seven times in 23 appearances in 2022. 

The highly-rated Slattery has also represented the Republic of Ireland across the U17 and U19 women's teams.

Slattery scored 10 goals for Treaty United in their 2021 Women's National League season and was voted the side's Senior Player of the Year. She previously played with Fairview Rangers. 

Talented 17-year-old Jodie Griffin also joined Galway United in 2023, making her first start for the club in their fixture against Shelbourne in June, having made one senior appearance for Galway WFC in 2022. Jodie has won the U17 National League with Treaty United in 2021.

The midfielder has represented the Republic of Ireland at U15 and U16 level. Jodie Griffin, from Blood Mill Road, previously played with Fairview Rangers before joining Treaty United.
