EXCITEMENT is growing in Broadford as the West Limerick village prepares to welcome a Liverpool FC Legends XI to Cove Park on this Saturday, May 23.
Former Liverpool greats, including the likes of former Irish internationals heroes John Aldridge, Jason McAteer and Ronnie Whelan will be joined by multiple European Cup winners Alan Kennedy and Phil Neal in gracing the Broadford Utd pitch.
Anfield goal-scoring legend John Aldridge is looking forward to the trip to West Limerick.
“The Legends team has visited Ireland a number of times and we are really looking forward to this trip to Broadford, as it is a unique venue for us and we are looking forward to an entertaining game.”
The line-up also includes former Scottish internationals John Wark, who was the PFA Player of the Year in 1981, David Speedie, Sky Sports Media Correspondent Paul Walsh, Jimmy Carter and Howard Gale.
The event is a fundraiser to help defray the final cost of Broadford Utd AFC’s club refurbishment work since 2006. The club is established for 45 years and is developing into one of West Limerick’s most active and prolific clubs, boasting 298 members and 14 underage teams.
The match is just one part of what promises to be a very special day. A dinner with the legends will take place on the evening of May 23 in the Charleville Park Hotel.
A limited number of VIP packages are still available. These packages give a limited number of supporters a chance to socialise with the players in a VIP room in the hour before dinner commences.
