Kilmallock GAA club have confirmed that Ger ‘Sparrow’ O’Loughlin is the new manager of their senior hurlers.

The former Clare manager replaces another former Banner boss, Tony Considine, who won two Limerick SHC titles with The Balbec.

Considine has moved onto Galway side Turloughmore after four years with Kilmallock.

O’Loughlin arrives in Kilmallock after an unsuccessful 2013 with Newtownshandrum in Cork.

O’Loughlin is no stranger to the club scene in Limerick, having tasted success with Adare - winning a hat-trick of titles from 2007 to 2009.

The Clarecastle native left Adare to manage Clare.

He returned to Adare in 2012 and brought a new look side to the county final, where they lost to Kilmallock.

The two clubs aren’t in the same group in 2014 but would both be fancied to feature in the knockout stages.
