Ardscoil Ris booked their place in the semi-final of the Harty Cup thanks to a 2-19 to 1-8 win over Our Lady’s of Templemore in Nenagh on Friday afternoon.
Na Piarsaigh’s Ronan Lynch helped himself to 0-12 while first-half goals from Colin Crehan and Michael O’Loughlin proved crucial for the Limerick school.
When these two sides met in the semi-final last year, Templemore needed a replay to win but Ardscoil were always in control here and never liked losing after racing into an early 0-4 to 0-1 lead. Two goals in three minutes before half time put them into a strong position and they led 2-11 to 1-4 at the break.
Templemore battled hard to get back into the game in the second half but despite coming back to within seven (2-12 to 1-8) they failed to score in the final 20 minutes and Ardscoil ran out comfortable winners.
They now play Dungarvan CBS or Hamilton in the semi-final while Doon play Rochestown of Cork in the other semi-final.
