MUNSTER AND Toulon have named their teams ahead of Sunday’s Heineken Cup semi-final in Marseille.
For Munster, the big news is that Sean Dougall has been preferred to start in the back row ahead of Tommy O’Donnell. He completes a back row alongside CJ Stander and James Coughlan.
Denis Hurley is on the bench instead of Gerhard van den Heever while JJ Hanrahan has recovered to take his place on the bench too. The game once again comes too soon for Donnacha Ryan. The news is better for prop James Cronin as he is back from injury to join the replacements. Damien Varley has been named to captain the side instead of Paul O’Connell.
Toulon, as expected, have named a star-studded lineup. Jonny Wilkinson has recovered from the injury that forced him off against Leinster in the quarter-final South Africa’s Bryan Habana has also been named to start on the wing. Australia’s Matt Giteau teams up with Mathieu Bastareaud in the centre while Drew Mitchell, another Australian, is on the wing and England’s Delon Armitage is at full-back.
Up front the big names include All Black prop Carl Hayman, Argentian back row Juan Fernandez Lobbe and Steffon Armitage at Number 8.
The game takes place at 3.30pm in Marseille on Sunday. You can keep up to date with all of the Munster news on www.limerickleader.ie ahead of the big game as our rugby correspondent Colm Kinsella is the South of France and will be reporting throughout the weekend.
