LIMERICK FC have enjoyed a positive start to their set of pre-season fixtures, following a friendly victory over Galway and a Munster Senior Cup quarter-final success over Ringmahon Rangers.

Limerick FC are continuing the countdown to the start of the new Airtricity League Premier Division season which begins with a home game against Bray Wanderers at Thomond Park on Friday, March 7.

Blues boss Stuart Taylor was pleased with his side’s 1-0 away win over Galway on Thursday last. Shane Tracy bagged the game’s only goal in the opening half.

Taylor said: “I was really happy with the performance from start to finish.

“I think we showed a lot of character right at the start of the game.

“With this being our first game, they came out and pressed us straight away. We tried to pass the ball from the back. To be fair to Galway, Tommy Dunne would know the style of play that we’ve got, and he enforced them to go and press us and they were right on top of us.

“We showed a lot of character by still trying to get on the ball. Our movement was good to go and do it and we showed a lot of bravery by looking to take responsibility on the ball and take the ball with people up against us.

“There was a lot of positivity throughout the game.”
