Janesboro went top of the LDMC Premier Division on Sunday thanks to a 2-0 win over Ballynnaty Rovers at Shelbourne Park.
Janesboro took the lead early on when Ryan Earls unfortunately deflected into his own net and while Balla made a good contest of it, Boro secured the three points late on when veteran striker Conor Lynch got their second after coming on as a sub.
The results sees Boro go three points clear at the top of the table. Carew Park and Pike Rovers are tied on 23 points in joint second while Geraldines and Ballynanty are a point further back.
Geraldines had a 4-1 home win over neighbours Fairview Rangers. Two goals from Mike Geary gave the Dines a dream start and although Eddie Byrnes hit back for Fairview to make it 2-1 at the break, goals from Karl Turner and Eddie Lee wrapped up the points for Geraldines.
Pike Rovers were 3-0 winners away to Summerville thanks to strikes from Pat Mullins, Kieran O’Hanlon and Reece Healy.
Knockainey got the year off to a good start with a 2-1 win at home to Moyross. Ger Cronin gave the city side the lead early on but Liam O’Shea equalised with a penalty and Nick Hayes got the winner on the hour mark.
The other Premier Division game played over the weekend saw Regional Utd and Corbally Utd play out a 0-0 draw.
