LIMERICK’s Football Chairman has revealed that the All-Ireland SFC Qualifier fixture was at the request of the Limerick football management.

John Cregan has expressed his disappointment that the timing of the Limerick v London qualifier, effectively clashes with the Munster JFC semi-final between Limerick and Cork.

The Limerick v London game has a 3.00 start on Saturday June 21 in the Gaelic Grounds. At 5.00 that evening the Limerick junior footballers are in provincial championship semi-final action in Paric Ui Chaoimh.

“I regret our patrons and supporters won’t be in a position to travel to both games,” Cregan told Tuesday’s County Board meeting.

“That’s disappointing - after all our junior team are 15-men plus substitutes who are going to Cork to wear Limerick jerseys and I believe they should be entitled to the full support of the Limerick football public and others but unfortunately because of the 3.00 fixture at the Gaelic Grounds for the qualifier, which was at the request of the Limerick senior football management team, people can’t be in two places at the one time,” outlined Cregan.

If Limerick seniors win they will be in round two action on July 5 against the losers from Donegal/Antrim, Dublin/Wexford, Cork/Tipperary or Galway/Sligo.
