Competition this weekend
All eyes will be on Munster Masters Cross Country this Sunday at Kartworld, Watergrasshll, Co. Cork where we will expect a good turnout from Limerick clubs.
On the same day, Munster Athetics will also host the Juvenile ‘B’ cross country races. We wish all our athletes the very best of luck with this event.
For anyone interested in Track & Field, An Riocht AC are holding a preseason meet at their Castleisland facility this Saturday - races include 150m, 600m, 3000m, long jump and shot putt open to ages u-16 upwards. 5 euro entry payable on day, meet starts at 12 noon and will be finished by 2 pm.
Intercounty Cross Country
The venue for the inter county championships this year was Dundalk IT. Eoghan Beary of Dooneen AC competed and came a very respectable 35th in the U18 category. It was tough competition and congratulations to Eoghan in this regard. Jack O’Connor also competed and did really well considering the tough opposition and conditions on the day. Also competing was Rachel Hosey of Limerick AC who was 39th in the U14 girls category.
National Indoor League
Men’s and Women’s teams for the upcoming National Indoor Club League which will be held over two separate qualifying rounds and a separate grand final during January and February 2015.
Events to be contested will be 60m, 60mH, 200m, 400m, 1500m, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault and Shot Putt. All rounds will be held at Athlone Institute of Technology Indoor Athletic Arena. Any Club Athlete aged 16 and over interested in competing should contact their club officer for more details as the deadline for registering teams is fast approaching.
The Pavillon in the University of Limerick will be the venue for this year’s Limerick AC night out.
Taking place on Saturday, December 13, it will feature a celebration of all athletes from Panthers to Wildcats, Lions, Juniors, Seniors and Masters.
Throughout the night, there will be a family fun table quiz and slideshows of highlights of the year. You might also be lucky enough to have a special guest appearance. On Saturday, December, the Dooneen AC Seniors meet at the Red Hen on Patrick Street for a night of celebration and an award to our outstanding athletes of the year.

A lot of traditional road races take place around December in Limerick and this year is no exception. On St Stephen’s Day, Limerick County Board host the County 5 mile and 10 mile road race.
Taking place at Caherdavin Community Centre, we would ask all athletes to support this event. The race starts at 12pm and will take a route around the country club and Meelick area.
On the same day and fully AAI permitted is the Newport Wren run taking place at 1pm. It is taking place from Longhouse Field and registration from same venue. On Sunday, 28th December, Mooreabbey Milers AC host a ‘Mooreabbey Mile Dash’ at 1pm in Galbally and more details can be obtained from their Facebook page.
