St Patrick’s ease to opening round win in Limerick SFC

There was a busy day of Limerick GAA club action on Saturday
Last year’s beaten finalists St Patrick’s got their Limerick SFC campaign off to a winning start thanks to a comfortable 0-13 to 0-4 win over Rathkeale on Saturday night.

Played in Kilmallock, St Patrick’s proved much too strong for the West Limerick men as they by 0-8 to 0-2 at the break. Rathkeale could manage only one point in the second half as St Patrick’s eased to a nine-point win.

St Patrick’s now have a two-week break before playing Dromcollogher-Broadford on Saturday, May 9. The St Patrick’s game was the only SFC tie down for decision on Saturday but there were wins for for Fr Casey’s and St Kieran’s on Friday night.

Meanwhile, in the Limerick IFC the results on Saturday night were: Athea 2-8 Glin 0-8; St Senan’s 2-12 Mountcollins 1-7; Oola 2-10 Mungret 3-5; Galbally 1-13 Cappamore 0-3.

Finally, Murroe-Boher and Tory Gaels (Croom and Crecora) will have to meet again in the Limerick U-21 ‘A’ HC Final after drawing in Clarina on Saturday evening.

Tory Gaels were 0-9 to 0-5 up at the break but Murroe-Boher fought back in the second half and it finished Tory Gaels 0-12 Murroe-Boher 1-9.
