THE three victorious Limerick GAA teams of 2013 are to finally receive their medals on March 9.

The presentation event is now to take place in the Greenhills Hotel.

Next month’s ceremony will take place on the evening after Limerick host Wexford in a National League double-header in the Gaelic Grounds.

Confirmation comes after weeks of negotiations between Limerick GAA officials, the varying managements and players.

Back in January it was announced that a gala function for over 550 guests was to take place in the Racecourse in Patrickswell on February 9.

But that event was cancelled.

The 40th anniversary of the 1973 All Ireland SHC and the 50th anniversary of the 1963 Munster MHC winning sides were also to be honoured.

However, these teams won’t now be included in the ‘low key’ March 9 event.

It is hopes that GAA President Liam O’Neill and Munster Council chairman Robert Frost will be in attendance to present the medals to the provincial championship winning Limerick senior and minor hurlers and the senior footballers, who won Division Four of the NFL.

There will be no tickets on public sale for the event.
