Munster Rugby players impress as five-star Ireland U20s make it three from three

Limerick's Evan O'Connell makes a crucial carry for Ireland U20s during the U20 Six Nations fixture with Italy U20s in Treviso on Friday night

IRELAND U20s made it three wins from three in the U20 Six Nations championship after recording an impressive 44-27 bonus point win over a game Italian U20 side at Stadio Comunale di Monigo in Treviso on Friday night.

Free-scoring Ireland, who led 27-8 at half-time, racked up five tries through Munster Rugby back-row Brian Gleeson, of Garryowen FC, as well as  Fintan Gunne, James McNabney, Hugh Cooney and Rory Telfer, to seal another impressive success.

Man of the Match, Ireland U20 out-half Sam Prendergast, kicked three penalties and five conversions for a personal haul of 19 points.

The game saw try-scorer Gleeson, of Munster, joined in Ireland's starting back-row by Ruadhán Quinn, of Old Crescent RFC and Munster.

Limerick teenager Evan O'Connell, of UL Bohemian RFC and Munster, impressed after being introduced as a replacement in the third quarter, while two more Munster players, Jacob and Danny Sheahan, both of UCC, were both sprung from the replacements' bench in the final quarter.

Ireland U20s penultimate round fixture in the U20 Six Nations Championship is away to Scotland, at Glasgow's Scotstoun Stadium,  in two weeks' time.
