ARDSCOIL Ris have been dumped out of the Dr Harty Cup at the semi final stage after their 1-12 to 0-14 loss to Cashel Community School in Kilmallock.
A point deep injury time from Adam Daly saw Cashel to victory and they now go on to play either Midleton CBS or Thurles CBS in the decider.
It was a game that saw Ardscoil never take the lead, and despite recovering well after David McGrath's goal, they were unable to see off a dogged Cashel outfit. The sides were level seven times throughout the contest.
Marc O'Brien opened the scoring with a fine score from play on four minutes but that was immediately cancelled out by Cashel's Ben Currivan.
Two frees each by Cashel's Ronan Connolly and Ardscoil's Fintan Fitzgerald accounted for the next four scores as defences dominated the early stages.
Connolly's third of the half and Daly's first of the game then had Cashel 0-5 to 0-3 with 16 minutes played. Mikey Gavin responded for the North Circular Road school but David McGrath and Daly increased Cashel's lead to three.
Two Michael Collins efforts from play had that back to one point but Daly's third of the half saw Cashel go in at the break with a 0-8 to 0-6 lead.
O'Brien's second of the game reduced that advantage to the bare minimum on the resumption but Cashel then hit what turned out to be the killer blow.
Currivan found McGrath in a bit of space behind the Ardscoil defence and the Cashel King Cormacs forward fired a powerful shot into the corner.
Ardscoil, through Jamie Moylan and Fitzgerald fought back to level the game for a fourth time heading into the final 10 minutes and they looked to have a grip of the game at that stage.
The game was still on a knife edge heading into added time but it was Cashel that got the killer blow in the second minute of added time.
Daly providing the finish after the ball squirted out of a ruck. The Cashel number 15 kept his cool to deliver from 20 metres to send them into the Harty Cup Final.
