November 8: Water charge a tax too far

Water Charge March ILIM 01-11-14Taking part in the water charge protest in Bedford Row.
I WAS one of the protesters in the city on Saturday for the water charges demonstration. The skies opened and nearly drowned us, but we had no intention of going home to our nice warm fires because every single person who turned up felt very strongly that this is a tax too far. I have never protested about anything in my life. As a matter of fact, I have never written a letter to any newspaper either, but enough is enough!

I have seen my take-home pay, as a PAYE worker, drop off very badly in the past four or five years thanks to all these new taxes. Does Enda Kenny seriously think that people like me can keep on giving when all he is doing is taking? If he wants his party to be wiped out in the next election, let him continue with what he is doing.

He is going about it the right way.
