The Limerick ladies football side that took on Roscommon
THE LIMERICK ladies football team suffered a 3-6 to 0-8 defeat to Roscommon in the opening round of the Lidl Division Three National League on last Sunday afternoon in Kiltoom.
The sides were level 1-2 to 0-5 at the interval. Limerick goalkeeper Carol Bateman made some crucial saves in the opening period to keep Limerick within touching distance and the visitors hit the last four points of the first half to go in level at the break.
Two second half goals courtesy of Roscommon's Lauren Shanagher and Caoimhe Lennon midway through the half helped the home side to a seven point over Limerick.

Limerick’s new manager, Patrick O’Connor, oversaw his first competitive match in charge last Sunday. Limerick Joint captain Roisin Ambrose missed the clash through injury.
Laois and Fermanagh played out a draw, Antrim had too much for Clare and Louth and Down also shared the points in the three other games in the opening round of fixtures in Division Three. Limerick will now switch focus to a home clash against Antrim this Sunday at 2pm.
