Monagea senior ladies football squad
MONAGEA senior ladies football manager Dean Maune says his side are eager to reclaim the Limerick senior ladies football championship crown.
Maune’s team last lifted the county title in 2023, having enjoyed a dominant run that saw them secure three championships in succession between 2021 and 2023. This Sunday they will attempt to get their hands back on the Limerick senior ladies football championship when they face St Ailbe’s in Knocklong at 3:30pm.
"At the start of the year, you are talking about county titles and it is really important for the girls especially after getting knocked out in the semi-final last year. It's really important for us to try and get back that county title back," said Monagea manager Dean Maune.

Unbeaten so far in this year’s competition, Monagea have shown impressive consistency with victories over Feohanagh Castlemahon, Mungret St Paul’s, St Ailbe’s, Ballylanders and Old Mill. Maune is pleased with how preparations have gone and is hopeful of having a full squad to select from for Sunday’s final.
"We're happy enough with how things are going, all going well we should have full squad to pick from on Sunday. That's a big thing that everyone is fit and right.
"These girls have won it all, they are very professional and they are very demanding, they expect high standards. I enjoy working with them and they drive it themselves really. They are at trainings fiveteen minutes beforehand kicking and ready to go, they leave no stone unturned really. Hopefully on Sunday they'll get what they deserve from the effort they have put in all year," he said.
As well as their football commitments, several players are also balancing dual commitments playing camogie with Newcastle West and Tournafulla. Deborah Murphy, Ellie Woulfe, Grace Lee, Yvonne Lee, Kate Kennedy, Karen O'Leary and Roisin Browne form a strong spine for the 2023 county champions. Maune is under no illusions about the challenge his team will face against St Ailbe’s.
"We know plenty about them, I'm involved for two years and this is my fifth playing against them. They are a very good footballing side, they are very patient on the ball and are well coached. We have changed a couple of things that we did last year and hopefully that might last year's semi-final defeat to St Ailbe's and get us over the line."
