A very young Pike selection played second fiddle for much of the game against a lively home side who through their failure to put away their chances, allowed the Hoops to maintain hope to the final whistle.

Aisling took the lead ten minutes from the break when Joel Coustrain’s corner kick was headed home by Conor Carew.

Minutes after the restart the home side added a second when Coustrain finished from close range following good work by Conor Coughlan.

Aisling squandered a number of good opportunities but looked to be holding on for a comfortable win until Bryan Mambouana pulled one back with two minutes remaining.

Pike went within a whisker of snatching an unlikely draw in injury time but Leon Daly’s shot from outside the box was well saved by Aisling goalkeeper Stephen McNamara.
