LDL PREMIER DIVISION:

Pike Rovers 0 Ballynanty Rovers 0

THE game of the day between Pike Rovers and Ballynanty Rovers proved rather disappointing for the good crowd who turned out to the Pike field on Sunday morning.

There was no questioning of the effort put in by both sides but a swirling crossfield wind made it virtually impossible to play any semblance of flowing football.

Pike were buoyed by the return of Steven McGann to the club colours and early indications show that he has lost none of his swagger with a fine performance.

Balla will be pleased to share the spoils and also with the performance of Leon Kirrane who had a superb outing for the Blues.
Pike had a great chance to take the lead early on when Leon Daly delivered to the back post for the unmarked Dylan Kelly-Higgins but his close-range volley was well saved by Balla keeper Eugene Hurly.

The closest Balla went in the opening half was a Kane Connolly shot that was inches wide of the upright.

Dylan Muphy headed wide when well positioned at the start of the second half and shortly after Scott Kirwin’s inswinging corner kick was headed off the line by Calum Kiely.

A super overhead pass by McGann teed up Colin Daly for a whizzing low drive that was inches wide while at the other end Leon Kirrane was narrowly off target late in the game.

Both sides will settle for the point but in the end Fairview will be happiest at the outcome.
