THE Limerick District League's remaining hopefuls in the Munster Junior Cup are in action on Sunday afternoon vying for a place in the quarter finals.

There is an all-Limerick clash in Annacotty when the home side welcome Janesboro.

Aisling are on a high after their Tuohy Cup win over Pike Rvs but will need to get back to earth quickly as they host a bang in-form Boro side.

Mike Aherne and Paul Burke have done a superb job with Janesboro on their return to the top flight. Prolonged runs in the FAI and MFA are an added bonus for a young side learning on the go.

Aisling, following their wonderful league success last season, have hit a few road bumps this term but seem to have got back on course just on time which all suggests we could have a cup tie to remember.

Pike Rvs are on the road to take on Killarney Athletic. The Kerry side are midtable, albeit only three league games are played, but with home advantage will be a real test for the Hoops.

Pike Rvs come into the tie on the back of a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Fairview in the Lawson Cup last week and no doubt manager Robbie Williams will have been working on a few issues over the week.

The Munster Shield continues apace with quarter final spots on offer in three ties.

Parkville make the short trip to Shelbourne while one of the competition favourites Herbertstown welcome Granville Rgs to the county venue.

Brazuca Utd beat Aisling C 5-0 last weekend to set up a home tie with Stradbally. The Waterford side lead the way in their division in the Waterford Leagues and will prove a stern test for Brazuca.

The Lawson Cup continues apace with five more games scheduled.

Top game sees Premier side Mungret Reg take on Summerville Rvs. Paul Danaher’s side were bitterly disappointed on recent cup defeats so will be determined for a prolonged Lawson Cup run.

Prospect Priory will prove a stern test for Murroe in Cals Park while Southend will be favourites to advance at the expense of Meanus. Ballylanders and Corbally have home advantage against Glenview Rvs and Patrickswell.

In the Premier League focus is on the bottom half of the table.

At the half way point in games played, Newport are still without a win. They welcome fellow Tipperary side Nenagh AFC knowing that points are crucial if they are to survive.

Carew Park are also mired in the relegation battle and they have not had a good time over the transfer window. They welcome Hyde Rgs A on Sunday. Geraldines are looking over their shoulders at the bottom two and while they strengthened significantly in recent weeks, they will get nothing easy at Regional Utd.

Premier A League leader Athlunkard Villa can re-open a seven-point gap at the top if they can win at Aisling B while Caherdavin Celtic will go second if they win at home to Charleville.

Division1A joint leaders, Moyross can take outright lead if they avoid defeat at Caherconlish while Division 2A sees second hosting first when Ballynanty Rvs B welcome Kilmallock B.

In Division 2B, Moyross can move to the top of the table if they can take full points at Lough Derg.
