The Corbally United squad celebrate their Youth Division Two Cup final success at Jackman Park
Youth Division Two Cup Final:
Corbally Utd 2 Nenagh AFC 1
CORBALLY UNITED and Nenagh served up a thrilling Youth Division Two which was only decided in the dying moments of the game.
Trailing 1-0 with a couple of minutes remaining in the game, Corbally looked as if they were going to be thwarted by a resolute Nenagh back line.
However, in a dramatic finish, Corbally conjured up two goals in the last few minutes to record a memorable win.
Nenagh started better and got their just reward when Daniel Connolly blasted home from a sublime through ball by Dylan McKenna.
The Tipperary side contained Corbally rather comfortably for the remainder of the half despite the prodding of Fionn Reid.
After the break however, The Limerick side got a grip on the game and Nenagh were forced into a defensive mode for most of the second half.
That said, Sean Morrissey went within a whisker of doubling Nenagh’s lead but his shot struck the crossbar.
When it seemed like Nenagh had done the hard part, Brian Carr put an inviting ball across the Nenagh goal and the industrious Oscar O'Donoghue made sure it was his to knock the ball over the line.
It was a heartbreaking blow for Nenagh and worse was to come as Corbally turned the screw and grabbed the winner in the final minute.
O’Donoghue was again in the thick of the action when he played a sweet through ball for Thisea Zabatakis who calmly looked up and fired a sweet shot into the top corner to snatch a memorable win.
Referee Fachtna O’Donovan was assisted on the night by the unique pairing of father and son team, Ray Ryan and Jay Ryan.
