Whoop opened at Gardens International Limerick city centre last year, providing facilities for 50 new staff
A COMPANY, which has a base at Gardens International in the city centre, has unveiled plans to create new jobs.
A wearable health and fitness technology company, Whoop operates a regional hub in Limerick where 50 people are employed.
Now, the firm - which has singer Niall Horan and golf stars Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry among its investors - has announced it is expanding its headcount nationwide, creating 600 roles.
It’s not clear how many roles will be based in Limerick, but the positions will be in software, research and design, hardware, product and marketing.

The majority of new positions will be based in the company’s global headquarters of Boston, however.
Will Ahmed, the founder and chief executive of Whoop said: “Right now, companies are debating whether to hire more people or just invest in AI. We are doing both. We are doubling down on exceptional talent and doubling down on world-class AI tools because the combination is what wins.”
He believes health monitoring is set to become one of the most important platforms in the world, and wants to see Whoop lead the way.
The over 600 new jobs will come on stream throughout this year.
