In Pictures: Limerick school’s modern-day retelling of invasion

A CITY school's fifth-class students have come together for a modern-day retelling of the Flight of the Wild Geese.

Budding actors, actresses and singers from Corpus Christi Primary School in Moyross on Limerick's northside have been filming the hour-long movie for the last year.

It charts William of Orange's attempted invasion of Limerick, and the efforts of Patrick Sarsfield and his army to push them back, and the events which paved the way for the signing of the Treaty of Limerick.

The film is being screened in St Mary's Cathedral in the city centre as part of Limerick's Bastille Day Wild Geese Festival on Sunday, July 16.

But despite it being one of the hottest evenings of the year, the film premiered to a packed house at the Technological University of the Shannon's Millennium Theatre in Moylish last week.

Even more impressive, the children dressed in the outfits they filmed in - a big challenge when it's 24 degrees Celsius outside!
